Full-length articles and short papers are solicited, and either single- or multiple-authored articles can be accepted. We recommend a limit of 8,000 words, but will consider a range of up to 11,000 words including accompanying endnotes (footnotes are not permitted). Articles exceeding this range should be presented in two separate sections. However, we reserve the right to request that any article, regardless of length, be condensed or shortened.

All references should be formatted as endnotes using the citation format given in the "Guideline for Authors." Monochrome or color graphics—line diagrams, charts, photographs, etc.—may be included, but the maximum permissible length may be reduced to compensate for the space occupied. All graphics must be accompanied by an explanatory caption and must be referred to in the text. Graphics must be in final, camera-ready form; no drafting services are available from the Quarterly.

Full-length articles must be accompanied by an abstract of no more than 150 words. The abstract should clearly identify the topic of study and the article's objectives and summarize major conclusions. Articles should be divided into sections. The first section should provide a general introduction to the topic and essential background material. The last should identify what has been learned, the relevance to larger issues, and possible recommendations for further work.

Short papers and the various modes of rhetorical discourse, such as expository or descriptive essays based primarily on the author’s own insights, are also encouraged. Such articles usually require little or no outside research or referencing but must be set forth in a clear and concise manner. Articles with a focus on the practical service applications of the esoteric philosophy are especially welcome.

Economy of length is strongly encouraged in both full-length articles and short papers. Concise, succinct discussion is of the essence. All submitted articles must be of publication quality; rough drafts are not acceptable. For further tips, please see "Tips for Authors."

All articles must be submitted in electronic form, in either Microsoft Word or plain text format. Tables or charts compatible with a Microsoft Word format can be embedded in the text. All other graphics should be submitted in separate files, using a GIF or JPG format. Windows-compatible files of special fonts required must be provided at the time an article is submitted for review.

Articles should be submitted as e-mail attachments to the Editor at editor@esotericstudies.net. Failure to comply with these Guidelines for Submission is likely to delay the review process and may result in rejection of an article for publication. Questions related to the Guidelines may be addressed to the Editor-in-Chief.

Authors making submissions may expect to hear back from the Review Editor within four to six weeks after submission. Once an article is accepted for publication, it will be returned to the author for final editing, both to address any substantive issues raised and for conformance with the specifications in the "Guidelines for Authors." Final editing and formatting, including the sizing and placement of graphics, will be at the discretion of the Editor.
